Licensing
If you’re using Power Apps to customize SharePoint list forms, no extra license is needed beyond your Microsoft 365 license (e.g., E3, E5, Business Standard). However, if you’re building a standalone Power App that connects to premium connectors (e.g., SQL, Dataverse) or runs outside of SharePoint, you’ll need a Power Apps per app or per user license.
No. Accessing Dynamics 365 data stored in Dataverse requires either a Dynamics 365 license or a Power Apps license with appropriate permissions. However, Power Apps licenses are restricted from accessing certain Dynamics 365 entities if they are part of core business functions (like Sales, Customer Service). For full access, a Dynamics 365 license (e.g., Sales Enterprise) is required.
No. SharePoint Online is a part of Microsoft 365 plans (like E3 or Business Standard), not included with standalone Power Apps or Dynamics 365 licenses. However, you can integrate SharePoint Online as a data source in Power Apps if you already have a Microsoft 365 license.
Power Pages (formerly Power Apps Portals) require a separate licensing model based on authenticated or anonymous external user access. You don’t need to license each external user individually; instead, you purchase a monthly capacity (e.g., 100 login sessions or 500 anonymous sessions). Internal users accessing the portal must be licensed with Power Apps or Dynamics 365 depending on the functionality.
